Mark Zuckerberg was visibly in a good mood when he took the stage at «Connect 2026» on 23 September at Meta Platforms’ headquarters in California. He received an enthusiastic welcome from participants at the social media giant’s developer and product conference. Meta’s CEO put «personal superintelligence» at the centre of his presentation. Zuckerberg uses the term as a kind of synonym for artificial intelligence (AI). «Soon, everyone will have an extremely capable personal agent,» he enthused. This agent would understand its users’ goals, be there for them around the clock and help them save time and money. «The technology for this now exists,» Zuckerberg said. He was referring to «Muse» – the name under which Meta recently launched an AI agent.
According to the CEO, the new technology is already being used millions of times. «And over the coming years, I expect Muse to grow into the personal superintelligence that billions of people around the world will use to achieve their goals and improve their lives,» Zuckerberg predicted. One thing is certain: the launch of the AI agent has generated enthusiasm on Wall Street. Since going live on 8 September 2026, Meta Platforms’ market capitalisation has increased by 17%. Investors are betting that the company can leverage its enormous reach to generate substantial revenues from its new services. In addition to Facebook, the portal founded by Zuckerberg in 2004, the company also owns the Messenger service, Instagram and WhatsApp. In the second quarter of 2026, an average of 3.6 billion people were active on these networks each day.
Ideally, this huge community will also use the new «superintelligence» via Meta’s smart glasses or «Muse Charm», a pocket-sized device with a mini display and 5G modem. The company is investing heavily in its AI offensive. In the second quarter of 2026, operating costs increased by more than half. As a result, revenue growth of 28% was not sufficient to prevent a significant decline in the margin (see chart). Provisions for legal disputes also played a role here. Plaintiffs accuse the company of deliberately making younger users addicted to its services in particular. Without admitting any wrongdoing, Meta recently reached a billion-dollar settlement with 29 US states and made far-reaching concessions regarding the protection of minors. The company is also digging deep into its pockets to build up its AI infrastructure. For 2026, the CEO expects investments of between USD 130 billion and USD 145 billion. «There is nowhere near enough computing capacity for the entire demand,» Zuckerberg said during the latest earnings presentation.
Concerns about overall AI safety put the Meta share price under pressure at the beginning of the week. For investors expecting a longer consolidation phase, Softcallable Barrier Reverse Convertibles offer an interesting investment alternative. Leonteq has launched two variants of this popular structure based on the Nasdaq-listed stock. For the product denominated in CHF, the guaranteed coupon payment amounts to 8.6% p.a. The USD-denominated counterpart pays a coupon of 13% p.a. The barrier is set at 59% of the initial level. As long as Meta does not fall to or below this level, the nominal value will be repaid in full at the BRC’s maturity. If, however, the underlying touches or falls below the barrier, the partial protection would cease to apply. In such a case, repayment would be linked to the performance of the underlying.
Meta is also an interesting stock for traders. This is particularly relevant given the presentation of the third-quarter results scheduled for 27 October. Leveraged products allow investors to take short-term positions on both the long and short side. Leonteq offers almost 200 Mini-Futures, Warrants and Knock-Out Warrants on Meta Platforms.
